At Design Interviews

Interview with ATHANASIA LEIVADITOU : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. ATHANASIA LEIVADITOU : The main concept was to comment the fact that our lives are shrinking in order to fit into the confined space of our office. Eventually I realised that each civilisation may have a very different perception of things depending on its social context. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. ATHANASIA LEIVADITOU : Creating a desk convertible to bed that would not demand extra space. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. ATHANASIA LEIVADITOU : About a month (concept and construction). .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. ATHANASIA LEIVADITOU : It was an inspiration that came from exhausting working hours of my classmates that did not have an apartment close to the university. .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?. ATHANASIA LEIVADITOU : The desk that can be converted into a bed alludes to the hectic schedule of the contemporary working man. To get some rest during the day (or even during the night) is a luxury. The prototype is 2,00 meters long and 0,80 meter wide (1,6 s.m.). .Frank Scott: What is the most unique aspect of your design?. ATHANASIA LEIVADITOU : The combination of two totally opposite functions (work and rest) in one object. .
